Haweswater Reservoir

Haweswater Reservoir – Cumbria

This photo belongs to an ongoing series of images depicting the ever changing and endlessly fascinating character of the lakes and fells close to where I live. Primarily using long exposure techniques I feel the process is well suited to illustrate the subtlety of light over time.

I’ve not visited Haweswater for many years. On this particular day a storm was passing through and the narrow road that terminates at one end of the reservoir was littered with fallen leaves and branches from the trees that line its route. The racing cloud and choppy water take on a different appearance when captured using a long exposure; the light somehow seems to glow from within the image.
