Heatwave in Cumbria – Pinhole Style

There’s been a heatwave here in the Lake District – most unusual. It normally rains a lot in this part of the world so everyone’s been out making the most of the sunshine. The tree above almost looks as if it’s been melted by the blazing sun!

The strong contrast between highlights and shadows on a cloudless day like this is marvellous. I like the way the sun backlights the lighthouse below producing a shadow that stretches right out to the camera.
