Buttermere in Colour

With all the good weather we’ve been having thought I would post some colour photos to highlight the sunshine and blue sky! I believe this bothy was built around 1860, it’s located at the top of Warnscale below Green Crag with views to Buttermere and Crummock Water.

Got chatting to a fell walker who’d been out camping on the fells the previous four nights. He said a painting of the view through the window used to be hung in the bothy. Setting off towards the fells in the distance he returned twice having first forgot his hiking sticks and then his binoculars.

I was parked down by the lake and walking up to this spot was hard work in the heat; took my time though and eventually made it! I’d visited the previous day with a pinhole camera but took no photos, conditions didn’t seem right. Will definitely visit again, there’s a pinhole shot of this location just waiting to be made!
