Tyne Bridge at Night

Spent a productive day at this location. Photographed the bridges with film cameras during the day and a DSLR at night. When processing I was surprised at how much litter (cigarette butts, chewing gum etc) was visible in the images. Tidied this up in Photoshop, which made for a much better looking foreground. I’ve developed the daytime negatives … will post them once scanned and processed.

    • Thanks Kate. Both the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Tyne Bridge were built by Dorman Long and Co. of Middlesbrough, the design influenced by Hell Gate Bridge, New York City. All three are stunning … would love to visit Sydney and New York to photograph the other two.

  1. Those are great – shame about the litter though. Our area is getting very, very bad nowadays ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I always find it fascinating coming into Newcastle on the train where you just see a long line of those bridges over the river as you come into the station.

    • Thank you, Carol. Yes, there are some great views on the East Coast Line. I’ve always enjoyed the view of Berwick from the train … a remarkable town and great to photograph ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I did a second look as it is so like Sydney Harbour Bridge. I do like the effect and atmosphere you have captured on film it is making me consider whether to dust off my old film cameras!
