Skiddaw from Castle Crag

Derwent Water, Keswick and Skiddaw from Castle Crag.

The author Sir Hugh Walpole lived at Brackenburn, a house located on the slopes of Catbells (left middle distance). He called it his “little paradise on Catbells”.

The village in the centre of the photo is Grange, a great place to set out from and explore Borrowdale. Monks established a monastic grange on this site during the Middle Ages.
